The Associate Regional Director will play a vital role in shaping and realizing AJC New England goals and must be equipped to balance diverse assignments, while actively communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders and partners.
AJC is a 117-year-old global Jewish advocacy organization. It has fourteen international offices and thirty-seven affiliates on five continents, and twenty-five regional offices across the United States. Through this network AJC advances a multi-faceted program that includes unparalleled access to diplomats, government officials and faith and civic leaders here in the USA and around the world. The New England office participates in this program through a public advocacy, diplomatic outreach, legislative engagement, and intergroup and interfaith initiatives. To support these efforts, the New England office also enjoys a robust board, communications, constituency development and public education programs.

Specific Responsibilities
• Participate with the Regional Director in the crafting and implementation of strategic goals.
• Provide conceptual, logistical, and organizational leadership for all office programs and activities.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Policy and Advocacy Committee in consultation with the Director, including overseeing advocacy projects.
• Develop and strengthen legislative relationships on the federal and state level.
• Provide supervision to select members of the staff team.
• Oversee community outreach and engagement initiatives.
• Mange events and programs, as needed.
• Play an active role in the cultivation and stewardship of AJC board leadership and supporters.
• Motivate, support, guide, and manage one or more key AJC New England board committees, including ensuring strategic focus and alignment with board leaders, planning agendas, and ensuring prompt and effective follow through on plans.
• Work with the Director and leadership to establish and maintain relations with important political, government, diplomatic, civic, ethnic and religious partners.
• Support national initiatives, as circumstances require.
• Serve as a spokesperson for AJC New England when the Regional Director is not available.
• Oversee time-sensitive organizational and advocacy commitments, as circumstances require.
• Support other important functions as circumstances require.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
• 8 or more years of related work experience required.
• Passions for AJC’s mission (including fight against antisemitism, the quest to advance a secure future for Israel, and the struggle to advance democratic values at home and abroad).
• An understanding of Jewish issues concerning Israel, foreign affairs, domestic policy, and domestic and global challenges facing Jewish communities.
• Strong organizational and time management skills and a commitment to timely follow through.
• Strategic sensibilities and experience in strategic planning and execution.
• Attentiveness to detail.
• High level of professionalism and discretion, and an ability to withhold and protect confidential and sensitive information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Public speaking experience a plus.
• Fundraising experience, including donor solicitation.
• Ability to comfortably multi-task, prioritize, and pivot between projects as circumstances require.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
• The inclination to work collaboratively and the capacity to work independently, as circumstances require.
• Solid experience with planning and implementing programs.
• Ability to travel in region and work early and late hours and on weekends, as necessary.
• Experience working with a board and managing governance.
• Social media and press experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
• Foreign language experience a plus and cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity a must.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000, depending on relevant experience.
